A CBM Christian Author Press Release

How to Know God: By Waiting on Him in the Power and Presence of His Holy Spirit by Thomas Johnson offers a powerful and transformational 31-Day daily devotional.

This 31-Day devotional offers readers inspiration and Biblical teaching in such a beautiful and simple way. The author states, “While our prayerful petitions will surely be many and varied, our most important objective in waiting must always be twofold: We wait in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit as He reveals to us the love of our Father.”  Utilizing key Scripture, the author explains that living the Christian life in the power and presence of His Holy Spirit is the key to victory in one’s life. The author also seeks to reveal the mystery of Christ in us – the Hope of Glory (Colossians 1:27).
How to Know God: By Waiting on Him in the Power and Presence of His Holy Spirit by Thomas Johnson is a delight to read. After 50 years of being a Christian, the author came to understand that salvation is truly God’s work, and that one can be set free from all entanglements, sin, and idols only by the power of the Holy Spirit.

God started a work with you when He chose you. God works His way in and through us by learning, understanding, and listening to the guidance of our Helper, the Holy Spirit. This book offers scriptural and Biblical understanding, as well as concise commentary to help readers rest in Jesus’ work on the cross that will bring transformation in many lives.

Thomas Johnson lives in New Mexico with his wife and sister-in-law. He is the father and stepfather of four grown children and is currently retired.

Mr. Johnson received Christ the summer of 1974 at Daystar Ministries in Fargo, North Dakota, while a student at Moorhead State University. During most of his career, his Christian life was uneventful—until the summer of 1998, when he became involved with Harvest Evangelism. A pilgrimage to Israel with his son followed in the spring of 2000. That summer, he also made the first of five annual trips to Argentina with Harvest Evangelism, where he experienced first-hand the Argentine revival, learned prayer-walking, and was a witness to many miracles.

Inspired by the writings of Andrew Murray’s book, Waiting on God, the author stopped struggling, rested in the Lord, and began waiting for Him to do for me the things he couldn’t do for himself. He was amazed at the result! He discovered that God really is everything He claims to be. He really is “my refuge and my strength;” He really is a “very present help in trouble;” He really did “set the author free” from his most grievous sin. And the author was finally able to see real progress in his walk with Jesus. That is why he wrote this book to help others get to know God while waiting in His presence with the Holy Spirit.

Additionally, in the following years after 1998, between 2000 and 2016, Mr. Johnson and a small group of intercessors prayer-walked the high-crime neighborhoods of Tampa Bay on weekends. In one neighborhood, a database of crime statistics published weekly by the St. Petersburg Times was kept for fifteen weeks as it was prayer-walked. At the end of that period, the data showed that weekly incidents of reported crime had dropped by nearly 40 percent.

Mr. Johnson has also prayer-walked other cities and towns across the US, Belize, Haiti, Argentina, and the Philippines.
